Adolescent Counselling

Christopher and Kerry are both fully trained and experienced counsellors with teens of their own, have full membership with the Institute of Professional Counsellors, and both hold a 'Working With Children Check Card'.

In Adolescent Counselling we will meet with your teen and listen to their story, their issue/problem from their perspective. We are there as a caring, confidential third party, to help re-assure where needed, to listen and support them. We will help them to set goals for themselves, to move forward and to use strategies that may assist in this process.

Adolescence can be both a difficult and challenging time in life! This is a stage that involves a big transition from childhood to adulthood and involves considerable physical, social and psychological changes that take place - It usually occurs between the ages of 12 and 19 years (but can be as young as 10). Adolescence is a period of vulnerability for the teenager, which requires lots of love, support and understanding by the parent(s) and sometimes may call for the need for professional counselling.

Teenagers often find their Independence by making friends and widening their social circle. As they begin to carve out an identity, they become more susceptible to their friend's influences and in general this is a healthy process that enables the teenager to find a niche outside of the family environment. But sometimes peer pressure may lead to situations that need parental or professional guidance.
